Spring has sprung

This Sunday we welcome back Randy Oliver. He will be updating us on his current research projects, queen breeding program and mite treatments. If you haven't heard Randy speak before, you won't want to miss it.

Are you set for bees? If not, you'll want to order soon before we sell out. As of this writing we currently have 14 nucs and 20 packages remaining.

Our intermediate beekeeping class will be held this Saturday at 9:00 am at the Senior Center. If you have successfully over-wintered a hive, you are eligible. The class is currently full, but we will be accepting additional walk-ins.

Have you seen The Pollinators? If not, here's your chance. The Nevada County Beekeepers Association is sponsoring the movie showing at Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. The Friday, March 27 showing has been reschedule due to Covid 19 and rescheduled for August. 

This film has won multiple awards and is currently being screened all over the world. The Pollinators is a cinematic journey around the United States following migratory beekeepers and their truckloads of honey bees as they pollinate the flowers that become the fruits, nuts and vegetables we all eat. The many challenges the beekeepers and their bees face en route reveal flaws to our simplified chemically dependent agriculture system. We talk to farmers, scientists, chefs and academics along the way to give a broad perspective about the threats to honey bees, what it means to our food security and how we can improve it.

Don't forget our raffle. All re-gifted, gently used or plant donations are greatly appreciated. Receive a free raffle ticket for every donated item you bring. Our club store will also be open. We have new tee-shirts for sale along with our hats, tote bags, mite wash cups and pollen patties.

After the meeting many members head to Placerville Brewing Company for dinner and more bee conversation. Join us there!
