blackberry blossoms

Our area's main nectar flow, the blackberry, is about to bloom! Are you ready? Supers on?

Don't miss the flow...join our board of directors. We have three openings for next year's board, which runs July through next June. Board meetings are held once a month to plan activities and to take care of club business. It's a great way to give back to the club — serve today!

To be added to the ballot, contact [email protected].
Ballots will be emailed June 12, after our club meeting.

How to read a beehive

Beehives are like mystery novels, you never know what twists and turns a plot — or our beehives — may take.

Join us as Dr. Dewey Caron reveals the clues on how to read a beehive. Gain understanding on what's happening with your colony, whether any intervention is needed and if it's appropriate for the season. Dr. Caron is an excellent educator — you won't want to miss this best seller!

Sunday, June 12th   4 – 6 pm
Cameron Park Community Center, Social Room
Dr. Caron will be speaking to us live from the east coast via Zoom.

club apiary beginners with beesClub apiary now open

Hey everyone, come on out for our open apiary days! The Club apiary is now open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, from noon until 1:30, located at the Sherwood Demonstration Garden. The hives are across from the garden. Club Beekeeper Jim Guilliams will be available to open hives, answer questions and demonstrate techniques. If you're not working with a mentor, this is a great opportunity to get your questions answered! (The apiary will not be open Sat. May 21, as it's being used for a class.)

Need Bees? Try our Facebook group

We're sold out for the year, but if you're still interested in getting bees, check out our Facebook group, where club members often post bees, queens and equipment for sale.

Hungry Bees?

It's a good idea to have pollen patties on hand, so you have them when necessary. The club has pollen patties for sale, $3 each. Placerville area, contact John Havicon at 916.996.8371, or for the Cameron Park area, contact Bernie Ruiz at 916.719.6708. They are also available at our club meetings.

Join us at our next meeting, Sunday, June 12th at the Cameron Park Community Center. See you there!
