The El Dorado Backyard Beekeepers were originally established in 2010 to promote beekeeping in El Dorado County. In 2017 the club changed its name to El Dorado Beekeepers and in 2018 became a nonprofit organization.
The club is run by a 8-member board of directors. Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Bahai Center located at 484 Main Street, #6, Diamond Springs. Club members are welcome to attend these meetings. (Board meetings are currently being held on Zoom.)
Membership meetings are held the second Sunday of the month from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, and are open to the public. Meetings include a speaker, a question and answer session and any club business and announcements. We also hold a raffle and sell shirts, hats, bags, mite-wash cups and pollen patties. Members are welcome to come early and chat with other beekeepers before the meeting.
Club members are invited to donate items for the raffle. For each donated item you’ll receive a free raffle ticket. Suggested raffle donations include re-gifted items, plants, new or slightly used beekeeping equipment.
