Winter Preparation: It is time to make our winter preparations. We say goodbye to summer and complete our honey harvests. Those towers of honey supers come off and we get smaller for winter. Join us and a panel consisting of Keith Scott, Jim Guilliams and the commercial perspective provided by Eric Oliver. Between all the panel members there is an accumulation of knowledge gained from keeping bees at all elevations of our club area. We will have open discussion on as many aspects of overwintering as possible. No host dinner follows the meeting. Location TBD.
EDB Apiary Open Days
Our club open apiary days are on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the Month.

Come on out to the EDB apiary on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. At the apiary you will be able to get your hands on some bees and work with them in their environment. You will see how to conduct inspections, monitor for mites, and apply treatments if necessary. Bee suits are mandatory. Non-members are welcome too. This is a good opportunity for new beekeepers to see what is needed before jumping in. Hope to see you there!

Remember to register your hives.
To register, visit our Resources page and click on the "register your hives" button in the lefthand sidebar to register with BeeWhere, the statewide website for hive registration. This is a yearly requirement for all beekeepers, plus the fee has been waived for El Dorado County beekeepers. BeeWhere is a great resource, bringing beekeepers and pesticide applicators together to protect bees.

It's a good idea to have pollen patties on hand, so you have them when necessary. The club has pollen patties for sale, $4 each.
