Part One: Winter Pests in the Hive, with John Havicon
From bears to skunks and mice, what can we do to keep these and other critters from messing around with our bees, or worse yet killing off our hives. John will review all the things we can do now to safeguard our hives.
Part Two: Products from the Hive: with John Havicon
Learn how to make products from the hive, learn what it takes to do make your own cosmetics from lip balms to lotions. Recipes will be shared.
No host dinner follows the meeting. Location TBD.
EDB Apiary Open Days
Our club open apiary days are on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the Month.

Come on out to the EDB apiary on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. At the apiary you will be able to get your hands on some bees and work with them in their environment. You will see how to conduct inspections, monitor for mites, and apply treatments if necessary. Bee suits are mandatory. Non-members are welcome too. This is a good opportunity for new beekeepers to see what is needed before jumping in. Hope to see you there!

Remember to register your hives.
To register, visit our Resources page and click on the "register your hives" button in the lefthand sidebar to register with BeeWhere, the statewide website for hive registration. This is a yearly requirement for all beekeepers, plus the fee has been waived for El Dorado County beekeepers. BeeWhere is a great resource, bringing beekeepers and pesticide applicators together to protect bees.
