2022 kickoff social 3

Our 2022 club membership drive is off and running. Join today, attend our January 9 Zoom Kickoff meeting and be entered to win $50 at Mann Lake. The winner will be drawn and announced at the end of the meeting.

We have a great year planned: a full-flight of classes, bees for sale and monthly meetings with speakers from across the nation. Class discounts, buying bees and the swarm hotline are just some of the benefits you'll enjoy from joining.

All 2021 memberships have expired. Returning members can simply rejoin for the current year. The data base has been cleared so you can use the same password.

Sunday, January 9 club meeting

We welcome Stephen back again this year for our kickoff meeting. He gave a great presentation last year on swarms, now we'll learn ways to prevent them.

2022 beginning beekeepingDon't miss out, this class is offered just once a year

Our classes teach local beekeeping — the things that work here — to help you succeed. Get a good start as a beekeeper with our two-part beginning beekeeping class. It is comprised of a day in the classroom and an afternoon in the field. Our small group classroom format is ideal for asking questions and our field day is great for some hands-on learning. Sign up today!

2022 bees for sale nucs onlyOrder today!

This year we're offering club members the choice of both nucs and package bees. Nucs are currently available to order. Check back in a couple of weeks for packages. Remember, if you have a top bar hive or are using three mediums for a brood chamber, you will need to order packages. We buy our bees early in the year, look for delivery around late April or early May.

Hive registration reminder

bee where logoVisit our Resources page to register with BeeWhere, the statewide website for hive registration. This is a yearly requirement for all beekeepers, plus there's no fee for El Dorado County beekeepers! BeeWhere is a great resource, bringing beekeepers and pesticide applicators together to protect bees.

In-person meetings to resume soon

I know we're all tired of Zoom meetings, and I promise, we'll soon be back to meeting in person. We are currently waiting for the the senior center to reopen, but have also started looking for other venues.

Hungry Bees?

Brood rearing will soon be starting, if it hasn't already. It's a good idea to have pollen patties on hand, so you have them when necessary. The club has pollen patties for sale, $3 each. Placerville area, contact John Havicon at 916.996.8371, or for the Cameron Park area, contact Bernie Ruiz at 916.719.6708.

"See" everyone January 9 on Zoom!

Habee new year!
