This month we're celebrating the bounty from our hard working bees!

Join us at Bluestone Meadow Lavender Farm for professional honey tasting with Amina Harris, this Sunday, 4 – 6 pm.

We'll be tasting and evaluating several varietal honeys, as well as club member's honey, using the Honey Aroma and Flavor Wheel developed by Amina. (Available for purchase on Sunday.)

We will also be sharing honey from our club hives. Interested club members should bring a clean 8oz jar to fill and take home.

So bottle up your honey and join us for this fun event.

club apiary beginners with beesClub apiary now open

Hey everyone, come on out for our open apiary days! The Club apiary is now open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, from noon until 1:30, located at the Sherwood Demonstration Garden.  The hives are across from the garden. Club Beekeeper Jim Guilliams will be available to open hives, answer questions and demonstrate techniques. If you're not working with a mentor, this is a great opportunity to get your questions answered! Check the FaceBook Group page (honey bears) to see if we have a hot weather time change.

Questions about what's going on with your bees? Try our Facebook group

If you can't figure out what the heck's going on in that hive, check out our Facebook group, where club members post questions, answers, and many opinions. The answer is usually "no, that's a drone". You can also post photos of your beekeeping successes!

Hungry Bees?

It's a good idea to have pollen patties on hand, so you have them when necessary. The club has pollen patties for sale, $3 each. Placerville area, contact John Havicon at 916.996.8371, or for the Cameron Park area, contact Bernie Ruzicka at 916.719.6708. They are also available at our club meetings.
